About Lauren

Dr. Lauren Stornelli is an Assistant Professor of Psychology at the University of New Haven. Her research focuses on the intersection of psychology and the law, with a particular emphasis on jurors’ perceptions of evidence, with an emphasis on technologically based evidence (surveillance photos and videos, smart home audio recordings).

Currently, Dr. Stornelli’s current research examines how jurors perceive identifications from surveillance evidence. She investigates how jurors interpret these non-eyewitness identifications and the extent to which such evidence influences their verdict decisions.

In addition to this, Dr. Stornelli investigates juror’s emotions when presented with different forms of evidence. Her work aims to assess how specific emotions, such as disgust and surprise, affect jurors’ decision-making processes.
