I was honored to be among those recognized at the annual University of New Haven Student Awards Ceremony. This ceremony recognizes both undergraduate and graduate students for their achievements in becoming campus leaders and their significant contributions to the campus community throughout the academic year.
I had the honor of attending the ceremony, and of receiving the Office of Residential Life Student Staff Member of the Year Award. Receiving this award came as a surprise, and I am extremely grateful to be recognized for my work and contributions.
I have worked with the Office of Residential Life for the past three years, first as a resident assistant, and then, this year, as a senior resident assistant. Throughout my time as an RA and SRA, I have worked to encourage residents to foster relationships with one another, to have pride in their community, and to be actively engaged on campus.
I’ve also had the opportunity to work with amazing and dedicated Office of Residential Life staff over the last three years who have supported me, helped me grow, and have collaborated with me on projects. As an RA and SRA, I have been involved with planning and implementing projects, such as programs related to mental health, and serving on the committee that plans fall and winter Opening Day.
"Receiving this award meant that I was recognized for the hard work and dedication I put in this position."Claudia Von Suskil ’19
Receiving this award at the Student Awards Ceremony meant a lot to me because there is so much time, effort, and sacrifice that goes into being an SRA. Receiving this award meant that I was recognized for the hard work and dedication I put in this position.
It was also nice to see that many other students were recognized for their efforts throughout the year. I was very happy to be able to share this achievement with my family, friends, coworkers, and fellow students who were honored at the ceremony.
